Things you didn’t know you could use Lapitec for
Lapitec has so many great qualities, it’s no surprise that it’s used to create such a wide variety of surfaces. It’s perhaps most commonly used as a kitchen work surface, but what are its more unusual applications? In this article, we take a look, and explain why Lapitec is the best material for every job.
Bathrooms, spas and swimming pools
Lapitec is non-porous, making it ideal for wet environments of all kinds. Moreover, the finish tends to be more watertight than most, as Lapitec stone often comes in large format slabs, which means fewer joints are created. The fewer the joints, the more watertight the room will be.
This stone is both anti-fungal and anti-bacterial – the latter property is one of the main reasons it’s so commonly used in kitchens. Mould can be a huge problem in bathrooms, but you won’t have to worry about it growing on Lapitec surfaces.
Lapitec is available in a variety of finishes, including non-slip ones. This is why it’s a popular choice for use around swimming pools and in spas. There’s no need to put ugly mats all over your wet-room – your stone floor will prevent you from falling.
Flooring and stairs
A good flooring material will last the test of time; after all, it goes through a lot. Every homeowner worries about spilling red wine on the vinyl, trudging mud into the carpet and scratching their beautiful wooden floor. With Lapitec, you needn’t fret. It is incredibly hard-wearing – it cannot be scratched by pointy heels, it doesn’t absorb liquid and it is easy to clean.

It also comes in a variety of natural colours, from shades of cream and coffee to darker greys and browns. You’re sure to find a colour and finish that suits your room, and once it’s fitted, your cladding will look minimal but classy.
Even at 12mm thick, Lapitec is very stable, which is another reason why it’s used for internal cladding. It’s especially good for lightweight cladding solutions, such as those needed for lifts and door fascia.
Exterior applications
Lapitec’s properties mean it’s great for a variety of external uses too, including paving, stairs and rainscreen façades. Not only is it non-porous and therefore won’t let the rain in, it’s highly resistant to temperature changes, frost and UV rays. Plus, it’s hard-wearing and resistant to scratches, so it is ideal for high traffic areas, such as stairwells.
If graffiti is a problem in your area, you may also be pleased to learn that Lapitec holds up well against paints and inks.
