Combination of online and in-store shopping best for interior design

A mix of online and in-store shopping is best when it comes to interior design, according to decor expert Dvira Ovadia.

Writing for, Ovadia revealed that online retailers can throw up some interesting items for the home and provide great inspiration to those hoping to spruce up their homes.

“Many home decorators (whether by profession or hobby) are discovering that some of the best-kept home decor secrets can be found by shopping online, as it literally allows customers to ‘shop the world’ for the most coveted items of the season,” Ovadia suggested, also cited by

However for some, the ability to touch items and see them in the flesh before buying is more important; making a combination of both shopping mediums the ideal mix.

Ovadia went on to highlight some of the key interior design trends she expects to see throughout spring 2013. Adding a touch of “elegance and glam” to kitchens, living rooms and bedrooms will be key – as will be “classic” items, such as granite worktops or delicate lace curtains.

What’s more, bronze will be the big colour of the season; complimented by neutral tones, which will take the place of the previously-favoured bright colours. Using beige and taupe palettes in the kitchen or elsewhere can help the home feel serene, Ovadia concluded and is “very on trend” at the moment.
