DIY and wallpaper are most searched Google terms
‘Wallpaper’ and ‘DIY’ were the most searched terms on Google UK during the month of August, within the category of furniture, garden products, decorating products and homewares.
On average 17 million searches of the keywords were made on Google between the months of May and August, according to a report published by leading independent digital marketing agency, Greenlight. Each of the terms was searched over 246,000 times, and accounted for two per cent of all searches to do with garden and home improvement.
It is not hard to see why these searches have become so popular with a total of 68,200 people buying their first house in the second quarter of the year, consumerelectronics.net reports.
A YouGov survey also showed that three quarters of homeowners in Britain have gone about making home improvements, with the average person spending £13,000 to create a home they’re happy with.
Neil Saunders, managing director of research agency and consulting firm Conlumino told diyweek.net that the housing market is key for all home retail sectors and the outlook for the next five years, whilst not as impressive as pre-recession, is much better than it was after the economic downturn in 2008.
Mr Saunders said: “As the housing market improves and strengthens, all of these sectors will grow more strongly and they will pick up in terms of the number of consumers looking to make purchases.”
