Why use Silestone quartz for kitchens?

Quartz is one of the hardest materials on the planet, so it is no surprise that Silestone quartz is exceptionally hard-wearing. It is also very easy to maintain and can be cut, finished and fitted to make any kitchen enormously practical and just as beautiful.

Designers frequently choose Silestone because of the wide range of colours and finishes on offer. Whatever the look clients are seeking, Silestone is more than likely to provide exactly the right solution.

Silestone countertops are not just an aesthetic delight. They are also immensely practical. Silestone’s innovative approach involves a remarkably hard-wearing mixture which is up to 94% quartz, combined with resins, pigments and silver ions which stop the build-up of bacteria.

A busy kitchen is the hub of many modern households, and a worktop needs to be able to withstand all the spillages and clatter thrown at it. Silestone quartz is very difficult to scratch, mark or stain and almost impossible to crack. It can also cope with brief exposure to scorching temperatures and is easy to wipe clean.

What Silestone textures can I order?

Silestone’s innovative approach to quartz worktops comes through in the textures, or finishes, they offer.

Silestone Polished Quartz

Silestone polished quartz is flawlessly smooth with a glimmering radiance. The purity of look and feel adds timeless elegance to all kitchens, however hard-working they are.

Silestone Suede Quartz

Silestone Suede is a remarkable textured surface that softens the look of a worktop, and adds a unique tactile quality.

Silestone Volcano Quartz

Volcano is the newest Silestone texture. It has a rustic, dimpled texture that is thoroughly modern and perfect for achieving a rugged yet luxurious look.

What Silestone edges can I choose for my worktop?

The edges of a worktop give a particular look to every kitchen and also help to make them easier to live with. The choices we fabricate for Silestone Quartz worktops are:

  • Straight Bevelled Edge – a clean edge with a small bevel to soften the look
  • Eased Edge – like a square edge, but slightly rounded
  • Bullnose Edge – fully rounded, with a softer look
  • Demi Bullnose Edge – rounded through 90o to the base of the worktop
  • Dove Chest – an elegant curved edge for a traditional look
  • Mitred Edge – an angled cut allows the edge to meet a supporting frame

The price of Silestone varies according size, thickness and the colour chosen.

Silestone is a non-porous surface and highly resistant to stains from coffee, wine, lemon juice, olive oil, vinegar, makeup and many other everyday products.

How can I know if my Silestone is original?

Check that the back of your worktop is marked with the Silestone logo and that the colour is the chosen one.

What temperatures can Silestone Quartz withstand?

Although Silestone can withstand high temperatures for short periods of time, its performance varies with respect to different factors like thickness, color, location, etc. It is not recommended that the product be exposed to sustained contact with a heat source, nor should hot saucepans, frying pans, deep-fat fryers, etc be placed on it. The use of a hot pad or trivet is always recommended.
